14th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony

On Friday November 17, 2017, join a few thousand of your closet friends to
kick off the holiday season with the 14th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting
Ceremony.This family friendly event will take place in the heart of
Detroit’s playground, Campus Martius.  Festivities start at 5 p.m.
with the 60 foot Michigan grown Norway Spruce, adorned with over
19,000 lights, being lit just before 8 p.m.

This year’s program features  performers that have Detroit roots, including Grammy award nominated artist KEM, and a musical entertainment favorite, Thornetta Davis. The highlight of this year’s program are, Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas and Olympic medalist Jeremy Abbott.

One of Detroit’s family traditions, enjoyed by thousands, it’s an
entire evening of activities and memory making. The Salvation Army
will light its giant Red Kettle at 6:00 p.m. Other family activities
for the evening include The Rink Opening Party, Showcase D’ Holidays
with food, drink and music, The Salvation Army Family Fun Tent, photos
with Santa, and horse-drawn carriage rides. This also serves as the
official season opening of The Rink. The Rink Opening Party, with 95.5
FM, runs from 9:00 p.m. – midnight.
